SECOND Division will kick back into action this weekend with a huge round of clashes, especially in the top tier Shield where first plays equal second and the other two sides tied second also clash as the logjam at the top of the table turns into a finals race.

URALLA pulled three points clear at the top of the Second Division Shield table with a big win over Wee Waa, while Boggabri’s 34-18 victory at Bundarra and Werris Creek’s 50 point win over Dungowan has caused a log jam at the top with three sides tied in second place.

In the early years, Boggabri teams were composed almost entirely of members of the Eather family.  

In the 1920s, Boggabri had great successes in the inter-town competition, the Spicer Cup, and also the Bollard Cup which was played in the Boggabri area. 

In 1946, Boggabri’s Trevor Eather played for Australia in a Test against Great Britain.

Funding for Local Rugby League Clubs

The 2015 NSW Footy Facilities Fund is open for applications from local football clubs until 12 August, 2015. It is a joint initiative of the National Rugby League and the State Government and offers funding to improve local clubs' grounds and facilities.

Additionally, applications can be strengthened by addressing one or more of the following:

  • improving safety at sport and recreation facilities (e.g. providing safer playing field, access pathways for players, disability ramps)
  • increase the security at sport and recreation facilities (e.g. installation of fencing)
  • remove barriers to promote inclusion in Rugby League (e.g. upgrade of amenities to increase female participation, provision of disability access, upgrade of referee amenities)
  • develop environmentally sustainable sport and recreation facilities (e.g. installation of drainage, rainwater tanks, more efficient lighting)
  • building strong communities.
